Tom Collins

Tom Collins has always had Africa on his mind. To get there, he studied first French and then African Politics. Armed with these tools, at the age of 24 he set up his company Vodoun Creations, specializing in African travel and contemporary issues.  He is currently somewhere in West Africa on a whirlwind bike ride to Lagos, blogging for Verge along the way.

What does it mean to discount something as operating on "African time"?
Tourism in Gambia exposes how prescriptions for Africa are only skin deep.
How jazz and religion go together in Africa.
Don't worry. Mauritanians may be asking themselves the same thing.
Looking beyond Western ideals of what makes a "modern" country.
As Tom bikes closer to Africa, he's startled by his own reliance on stereotypes.
Tom is taking a road less travelled, to tell a story that isn't often told.
