Volunteers are the heart of the Canadian Red Cross and the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement. The work of the Red Cross is only made possible because thousands of volunteers willingly give their time to help vulnerable people. Volunteer activities vary by area and need. Red Cross International does not recruit for international volunteering. Contact Red Cross International for more information.
The Canadian Red Cross' mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world. They are part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement that works to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded and prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found.
Requirements vary by volunteer programme, but some require valid G drivers license or Emergency First Aid certificate and all require a positive police reference check. Contact your local Red Cross Canada office to inquire about volunteer opportunities.
