Canadian Summer School in Germany (CSSG): Canadian Summer School in Germany (CSSG)
The CSSG is organized under the auspices of the Canadian Association of University Teachers of German (CAUTG) and offers courses at the intermediate and advanced level. For a period of approximately 6 1/2 weeks, students participate in a full course (approximately 85 hours of classroom instruction) and in numerous additional activities: lectures at various museums, visits to theatres and operas, excursions to cities with cultural and historical significance, and a three-day trip to Berlin. The main feature of the program, though, is the students' rapid progress in linguistic skills enhanced mainly by the fact that they are immersed in German life, culture and civilization.

An application form (in German) must be completed on their website. Each student must also obtain a Letter of Permission or Visiting Student Authorization Letter from their home university. This letter allows a student to take credits at a different university. Students can obtain this form at their university’s Registrar’s Office and their German department can help them to fill it out. Canadian citizens staying for less than 3 months in Germany are not required to obtain a Visa.
Classes are for intermediate and advanced level German only.
The six credits are equivalent to the credits of two semester terms everywhere in Canada and will be transferred to the participants' home institutions upon successful completion of the program.
