Volunteer or Work Abroad

A.  Volunteer Programmes


Who can Volunteer?

For students we offer summer and winter break programs, semester programs, gap year programs after high school or university, and customized internships and practicum programs integral to school courses.

For working professionals we offer career breaks as well as programs for retirees with lots of energy and a desire to share their experience and expertise.

For teachers and other adults who wish to bring a group that wants to "travel with a purpose" we have customized programs and rates.

All of our programs are for anyone who wishes to re-make the world or their own lives!

What can a Volunteer do?

Teaching, health care, child care, social care, conservation, environment, animal care, wildlife, building, organic farming, journalism, sports and more.

Where can a Volunteer go?

China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Korea, Nepal, Nicaragua, Peru, South Africa, Taiwan, Tanzania, United Kingdom, Vietnam.

B.  Work Programmes


Your world to discover

 

York Region Learning Connections, the International Division of York Region District School Board in Ontario, offer a Teach Abroad program to individuals interested in spending a year in another part of our world.  Opportunities exist for teaching in public and private schools in elementary and secondary schools, universities and colleges.

Positions are presently available in China, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Benefits include competitive wages, furnished accommodation or housing allowance, round-trip international airfare, medical insurance, vacation and national holidays, visa/work permit assistance, TEFL training if required, pre-departure orientation, and a supportive teaching environment.

Duties include conducting English conversation classes for both students and teachers, assisting teachers with the English classes, instructing subject courses in English, preparing teaching materials and activities, assisting with activities related to English language education and other extracurricular activities.
