Projects Abroad
Morgan Hargrove, Teaching in Peru
Heena Gudka, Care in India
Background:Founded in 1992, Projects Abroad employs a staff of 350 people around the world to organize and support over 4500 volunteers annually in 24 countries doing over 150 different internships and service projects. The most popular projects include medicine, teaching, care, journalism, conservation and archeology.
Every placement is individualized to the volunteers' interests and timeline. You can go at any time, for as long as they wish, just apply several months before you would like to start, and specify the dates that you have free.
In most cases, volunteers do not to be able to speak any language except English, and need not be certified to teach or work in a hospital. We only ask that you are 16 years or older.

"I really appreciated Projects Abroad's ability to let volunteers have individual experiences. They enable volunteers to make their own unique impact on the communities that they work and live in, while also providing a safety net and reliable resources. I have never second-guessed my decision in choosing Projects Abroad as a volunteer program. I will most definitely happily recommend it to my friends and colleagues."
"I had a brilliantly fulfilling experience. It was a rare and wonderful opportunity to help a community in need, and to fully immerse myself in a whole new world. Living and working with the local villagers gave me a special insight that I otherwise would not have found. It was a privilege to be with the children and it is an experience that I shall remember for the rest of my life."
